Coronavirus Statement 19th March 2020

The following statement is from our Managing Director, Mark Brown.

Dear All,

These are unprecedented times and as I am sure you will all be aware things continue to move at pace. Given the constantly changing situation we want to make sure that we provide the right support to you all to allow us all to come through this period intact.

Since Monday’s message the Government has announced a number of financial measures to provide you with direct support in these uncertain times.

As we receive more information on how to access the funding we will continue to update you. If you do need assistance with any grant application our Head Office team will try to help with you that on a case by case basis.

However as a first port of call we would strongly encourage you/your advisers to make contact with HMRC with regard to deferring any tax payments (VAT/PAYE/corporation tax) and assisting your immediate cash flow. We are aware of this receiving a favourable response.

I am also able to confirm first hand that industry bodies continue to work extremely hard lobbying the Government for further assistance in the form of HMRC deferrals, reductions in beer duty, VAT and support with ongoing staff costs – we expect a further update from the Chancellor on this imminently.

You will already be aware that Sky and BT Sport charges have been suspended and that business rates will not be payable from 1st April 2020.

For our part I should start by advising that we are well aware that for many, your business is also your home and as our loyal tenants you can be re-assured that will remain unchanged through this difficult period.

With regards to ongoing rent payments, things are moving so quickly at the moment that we feel there is a need to take time to assess how this plays out. Therefore, we intend to defer April rent collections until Monday 6th April 2020 when we will have more information as to the Government’s support packages and will have engaged directly with each of you.

We can only get through this if we continue to work together and your area managers and Chorley office contacts will continue to engage with you on a regular basis to maintain contact on all relevant matters.

Please do continue to follow the relevant Government health guidelines in the operation of your business to ensure you, your staff and your customers stay safe.

Regards,

Mark Brown
Managing Director
