Job Retention Scheme

In March the government launched what is known as the Job Retention Scheme (JRS)

The scheme was set up to support businesses to continue paying their employees’ salary for those that would of otherwise been laid off during this crisis.

These are known as “furloughed workers”. HMRC pay employers a grant worth 80% of an employee’s usual wage costs, up to £2,500 a month, plus the associated Employer National Insurance contributions and minimum automatic enrolment employer pension contributions on that subsidised wage.

The scheme has now been extended until the end of July 2020. At which point changes will be implemented to allow more flexibility. More specific details and information of what that entails will be made available from the end of May 2020.

In the meantime, the government has updated its website pages to bring together all the main links you need to make a claim. You can find this at www.gov.uk/government/collections/coronavirus-job-retention-scheme

This is just one of many support mechanisms available for businesses please note that the helpline to find out all that is available to you has also changed. It is now 0800 998 1098.

We will aim to keep you updated on any changed to this scheme over the course of the next few weeks so please keep an eye on our social media platforms and website for more information
