Commis Chef – Part-Time position available

Gerrard Arms, Aspull, Wigan.

Candidates must be aged 18+. Salary to be discussed at the interview. Information supplied upon application.

Key responsibilities for Commis Chef will include:

* Prepare food items for customers as requested, including special requests, in a timely and consistent manner

* Determine food and supply needs based on rotating menus

* Inspect food products and supplies as needed

* Ensure work environment and stations are clean and sanitised

* Check food before it is served to customers

* Control and minimise waste

* Comply with outlined safety regulations and procedures

* Assist the site manager in menu and dish design/specification

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Head Chef to join us at the Gerrard Arms in Aspull, Wigan.

We are looking for a head Chef who has a more hands-on role and will take on duties that a Sous Chef would normally handle. As Head Chef you will oversee the day-to-day running of the kitchens and be able to manage, lead, motivate, and develop the team.

Responsibilities will include menu planning, managing the financial KPIs enabling business success, purchasing, health and safety including food hygiene procedures.

You will have previous experience working as part of a fast-paced, quality-driven, culinary team, at Head Chef Level, ideally within a reputable establishment.

Key duties & responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that kitchen staff adhere to quality, hygiene, and cleanliness standards
  • Staying up-to-date with culinary trends and kitchen processes
  • Dealing with suppliers and ensuring that they supply quality goods at affordable prices
  • Managing the inventory and ordering stock as needed
  • Overseeing the maintenance of kitchen equipment and organising repairs when needed
  • Developing new dishes and overhauling menus to attract more clientele
  • Ensuring that guests receive excellent service and enjoy their culinary experience

The successful candidate will have:

  • Catering and Hospitality qualifications
  • Food Hygiene qualification and be able to demonstrate best practice.
  • Relevant experience in the industry with leadership and management skills
  • Have previous experience in a similar environment and role with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding knowledge of food, culinary skills, and expertise
  • Feel comfortable in a fast-paced, busy environment.
  • Have an approachable, positive, and proactive manner with a growth mindset.
