Christmas Across Our Estate: A Season of Community & Giving

Across our estate, many of our venues came together to spread festive cheer and support their local communities throughout the Christmas season. Some pubs caught our attention on social media or were nominated by BDMS with their displays of Christmas spirit within pub communities! Shoutout to you if you make an appearance!

At The Wheatsheaf in New York, families enjoyed a festive Breakfast with Santa, complete with a surprise visit from the Grinch, bringing smiles to children and adults alike.

The Tywarnhayle Inn in Cornwall hosted a Charity Carol Singing event, with all proceeds supporting Friends of Goonhavern School and a Christmas Giving Tree. The initiative helped bring extra festive magic to children on Treliske Hospital’s Children’s Ward.

At the Midland Hotel in Lazonby, local primary school children were invited to decorate the outdoor Christmas tree, creating a heart-warming community moment and a festive focal point for all to enjoy.

The Stirrup Stane in Airdrie saw staff and customers generously donate toys, selection boxes, and gifts for children in the community. The celebrations also included a popular Santa’s Grotto.

In Kilsyth, the Scarecrow stepped in to sponsor the market square Christmas light switch-on after the council was unable to install lights, ensuring the town still enjoyed a festive display.

The Holly Hill Inn in Richmond hosted a fun-filled ‘Grinchmas’ party, welcoming children from the local community for an afternoon of festive entertainment.

At The Coble in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, families gathered for a magical Polar Express screening, creating a cosy and memorable Christmas experience.

Meanwhile, Dixie’s Arms in Bagthorpe held a vibrant Christmas Fair, featuring a visit from Santa, craft and gift stalls, food, children’s rides, carols from Bagthorpe Primary School, a choir, and live singing—bringing the whole community together to celebrate.

Pubs play a vital role in our local communities, acting as welcoming hubs that bring people together and strengthen connections. It was fantastic to see so many of our sites going above and beyond during the Christmas period — a season known for generosity — by supporting local causes and hosting events and activities. It’s the people in our pubs who truly make them so special.

Here’s to 2026! 🥂
